1. ACTIONSCRIPT
A Rich Internet Application (RIA) script allowing users to interact more fully with Flash applications.
2. ADOBE
A computer software company who aquired Flash from Macromedia in a buy out in 2005.
3. FLASH
Multimedia software used for animation, adverts, applications, games and videos. Currently developed by Adobe; it's newest use is for delivering Rich Internet Applications.
4. FLV
Abbreviation of Flash Video and a file extension (.flv).
5. FutureSplash Animator
The original name for Flash developed by FutureWave Software.
6. FutureWave Software
The original developers of Flash, then called FutureSplash Animator, before being bought out in 1996 by Macromedia.
7. Macromedia
A computer software company who developed the brand Flash from the FutureSplash Animator aquired in the buy out of FutureWave Software.
8. RASTER GRAPHIC
An image stored in a 'grid' utilising RGB colour space.
9. Shockwave
An alternate Flash type tool also developed originally by Macromedia, more suited to games that require a rich graphical environment than Flash.
10. SWF
Abbreviation of Shockwave Flash. Is a file extension (.swf) whose contents can recently (Jul 08) be crawled by Google and Yahoo!.
